Uttarakhand CM Harish Rawat's Baahubali 2 video looks way better than the original movie

It doesn’t matter just how bad your Snapchat face-swap is, it always is entertaining. Just like Tanmay Bhat’s Sachin-Asha gag, or Varun Thakur’s Vicky Malhotra, the Uttarakhand chief minister too, tried his hand at some shoddy video editing and executed the master of all face-swap videos.

Someone, in what can only be called a stroke of genius, decided to stitch Harish Rawat's face to Baahubali actor Prabhas’ as he lifts a huge rock in the shape of Uttarakhand, which even has the state’s name engraved upon it, as Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and others stare at him in awe.

The scene is of course the famous sequence from Baahubali – The Beginning where the titular protagonist uproots a Shivalinga, carries it on his bare shoulders and places it under a waterfall. But somehow, Harish Rawat lifting Uttarakhand on his shoulders is just a new kind of awesome. The video titled “The saviour of Uttarakhand” has gone viral on Facebook with close to 2 lakh views on it.

Sadly enough, this masterpiece is not Rawat’s brainchild. Or at least he claims so. CM Harish Rawat told ABP News that the video was not made with the knowledge of the party. In fact, on being asked whether he considers himself the saviour of the state, Rawat said, "I am a servant of Uttarakhand".

But even if he did have this video made (he should ideally take credit for it), it's not the first time politicians have gone the extra mile to solidify their demigod status in India.

In fact, there have been Baahubali political references in the past as well. Tamil Nadu has seen photoshopped images of the late former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa as Baahubali’s Amma. And Uttar Pradesh has witnessed Narendra Modi as Lord Ram (and Nawaz Sharif as Raavan). So this video, excellent as it is, is hardly something unique.

Politics in India has always been the biggest entertainer of them all.
