Five reasons why Gaurav Gupta's couture show was a big letdown

The easiest way to get attention at a fashion show is by having a celebrity show stopper. And the most convenient way to make a collection is to repackage the same designs and styles in different colors. Gaurav Gupta mastered both these tricks for his Amazon India Couture Week show.

Kalki Koechlin walked the ramp as the showstopper; there was nothing new in the designs that we haven't seen in his collections before.

Sari gown

An embellished, sheer gown with a plain sari draped sexily is fast becoming a staple in Gaurav's collections. And there were plenty of these in this collection too

Done to death already, they made yet another appearance in this collection. And the models stumbling while walking in those wasn't a pretty sight either.

Same patterns

Gaurav's unique tree roots-like patterns were quite fascinating the first few times. But now they look majorly overdone and excessive in use.

Shoulder knots

Quite unwearable to begin with, the ruffled shoulder knots on Gaurav's evening gowns making repeat appearances aren't helping matters either.

Glittery make-up

That Gaurav loves glitter is rather obvious. We've loved his glittery gowns in the past too. But having the models plastered in glitter wasn't such a wonderful idea considering that the setting was white and far from glittery.
