Five trends we hope to see in Lakme Fashion Week's latest edition

Change is the only constant in the world and the fashion industry is out to prove it faster than anyone else can. Before you can register, it is time for yet-another fashion season which basically is an excuse for the industry to host one of its many fashion weeks and tell you just how godawful is your present wardrobe. Whether they actually "change" their collections is a different debate however. For now, it's Autumn-Winter 2015 season and Lakme Fashion Week opens stage in Mumbai. Get set to have a whole new bunch of trends, styles and looks being showcased, each different from the other, or atleast that's what we're hoping to see.

Speaking of styles and looks, here's our wish list of things we'd love to see on the ramps this season. '70s is the biggest trend this winter season and we're surely up for some fashion rock and roll. Designers, we hope you're prepared.

Flared Trousers

One of the decade's biggest contribution and Amitabh Bachchan's staple style on-screen, flared trousers from the '70s are what's got everyone talking everywhere right now. From pants to jeans, these are the new skinny-fits of the season. Nothing is more chic than high-waisted flared denims after all.

Knits

Too obvious for winter, maybe but knitwear doesn't really have to be about sweaters and pullovers, right? Knit dresses, polo neck tops and A-line skirts all make for pretty trendy statements. Comfortable, warm and stylish, we'd love to see our designers knit their versions on this one.

Neon shades

While yellows and reds ruled the roost this summer, winter shall get its own share of bright with neon colours. Before you scream "too loud", things can be kept muted by pairing them with darker, more balancing colours. Black tops with neon borders? You have to admit it sounds rather fashionable.

All things bohemian

Fashion isn't always about taking things seriously and nothing shows this better than boho-chic. Think outlandish prints, overflowing silhouettes and an attitude to pull it all off. We're bored of the always prim-and-proper looks and what's a better time to have some fun? Right now, at this moment, we say.

Androgyny

Fashion world over is going gender fluid and straight falling silhouettes are coming out more and more. Since winter allows for layering, it's all the more easier to go androgynous and not conform to gender stereotypes. But is our Indian fashion industry ready to take this step? We're for one hoping it is.
