Among the popular destinations that attract international travellers and adventurers are the lakes at Pangong and Tso Moriri, the scenic valleys of Nubra and Zanskar, some of the highest motorable passes in the world (Khardung La and Chang La), ancient monastries along with crucial places of historical and military significance such as Drass, Kargil, Chushul, Siachen and Turtuk. We travelled on the strategic route (maintained through extreme weather by the Indian Army and other agencies); through Srinagar - Drass - Kargil - Leh and further on to Pangong lake and Nubra Valley.
