How Modi turned his bhakts against each other on Twitter

In the last one year, Twitter has seen many wars: BJP versus Congress workers, Adarsh Bhakts versus Adarsh Liberals, AAPtards versus Presstitutes - there's something for everybody, lest the trolls snuff you out.

On the morning of July 3, we saw a war unlike any we have seen before. The supporters of Prime Minister Narendra Modi were seen fighting among themselves. Who turned the trolls on themselves? The fault lies with none other than the prime minister himself, who unwittingly invited 150 of his social media followers to his official residence, 7 RCR, for a discussion on July 1 - the day he launched the Digital India programme.

All hell broke loose when the "chosen ones" began to brag about their meeting with Modi, leaving others to sulk, shout and scream.

From complaints to abuse, it seemed that the trolls were revolting among themselves. They main reasons why they were upset were: a) the meeting was held in a highly secretive manner (b) some non-deserving "secular" people were also invited (c) more genuine ones, like those working for Modi and BJP for longer period were ignored (d) a hashtag #Super150 also began to trend.

The matter got so out of hand that Giriraj Singh, the Union minister of state for micro, small and medium enterprises, had to step in and appeal to the PM's followers to call it a day.
