Kabir Khan’s Tubelight is yet another example of how much the director loves to work with Bhai. The movie that is set in the backdrop of the 1962 India-China war features Salman Khan as a simpleton with a heart of gold.
The film, of course, has nothing original to offer. In fact, it is based on the 2015 American war drama Little Boy, which was incidentally panned by critics. But knowing the Indian audience, this Salman Khan movie, like all Salman Khan movies, will make more money than the combined GDP of a few African countries.
Here’s how the social media reacted to the film’s first day:

There were the usual Bollywood pats on the back.
#Tubelight is an innocent film that warms the heart and touches the soul. It gives us faith and love in a time of war. @kabirkhankk

How does @kabirkhankk make such hard films look so easy!Touching & thought provoking @BeingSalmanKhan @minimathur #Tubelight #correctedtweet

But what happened to Taran Adarsh? No Rs 1,000 crore predictions?
#Tubelight rests on a thin plot... Screenplay lacks the power to enthral and mesmerise... Emotions plenty, but few moments stand out...

And others concur.
Salman Khan's Tubelight hasn't opened as well as it was expected to. Average occupancy for early morning shows on Friday.

Twitter had a blast making those oh-so-expected "light" jokes.
If Tubelight doesn't earn, it would be the load shedding phase of Bollywood. Na Fan chala aur na Tubelight

Bollywood needs to release a movie with a realistic name called 'The Electrician' as the appliances #Fan & #Tubelight are not working fine.

Went to see #Tubelight My eyes started 'flickering', my throat started 'choke'ing and now my life has gone into complete darkness.

But no one says it better than Salman Bhai!
Don't waste your time on these bakwass things . not important, important is that u r so busy that u don't have any time for this rubbish
— Salman Khan (@BeingSalmanKhan) June 9, 2015
Now that's wisdom worth a thousand-watt, er, tubelight?
