With the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth ||, Prince Charles has finally became the king of England ending a wait of more than 70 years.
Charles, 73, will be the oldest monarch to take the throne in a lineage that dates back 1,000 years.
As Duke of Cornwall and Duke of Rothesay from 1952 to his accession, he was the oldest and the longest-serving heir apparent in British history, and the longest-serving Prince of Wales.
King Charles III was born in Buckingham Palace, the first child of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II and Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. He was the first grandchild of King George VI and his consort, Queen Elizabeth.
Charles was groomed from birth to be the King one day.
Charles was formally crowned Prince of Wales, the title traditionally held by the heir to the throne, at a grand ceremony in 1969.
Since he was crowned as the Prince of Wales in 1969 before he completed his education, he was the first British heir to receive a degree the following year.
Charles joined the armed forces, initially with the Royal Air Force in 1971, like many other Royals.
Charles has always been criticised for his doomed marriage to Lady Diana Spencer (who he married in 1981 and had two sons - Prince William and Prince Harry) and his affair with Camilla Parker Bowles, his second wife.
The new King's supporters say he has often been misunderstood and is a serious-minded man with a genuine concern for his people.
Considering how Charles's second wife Camilla still divides public opinion, her crowning would be a highlight.

As Obamas unveil their official White House portraits, take a look at some other famous first couples whose official portraits are displayed in various rooms of the White House.
Aaron Shikler painted the 50 x 34-inch official portrait of President John F. Kennedy hung in the East Room of the White House since 1971. She is also responsible for capturing First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy’s portrait.
President Richard Nixon’s portrait was painted by artist James Anthony Wills in 1984 and hangs in the Grand Staircase in the East Room of the White House. Artist Henriette Wyeth, who learned to paint left-handed after polio immobilized her right hand, crafted the official portrait of First Lady Patricia Nixon in 1978.
Accomplished artist Everett Raymond Kinstler completed the 50⅛ x 40⅛-inch portrait of President Ronald Reagen in 1991. Artist Aaron Shikler who painted the portrait of First Lady Nancy Reagan also crafted portraits of President John F. Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy.
Renowned American painter Herbert Abrams crafted President Jimmy Carter’s portrait in 1982. First Lady Rosalynn Carter’s official portrait was created by Boston-based artist George Augusta in 1984.
After the remarkable creation of Jimmy Carter's portrait by Herbert Abrams, President George H.W. Bush hired the artist for his own. Artist Chas Fagan crafted the portrait of First Lady Barbara Bush in 2004.
Simmie Knox’s 2002 portrait of President Clinton was the first presidential creation by an African-American artist. Knox also painted Hillary Clinton’s official portrait.
President George W. Bush’s official portrait was completed by accomplished painter John Howard Sanden in 2011. Sanden also painted First Lady Laura Bush’s official portrait, which shows her standing in the White House’s Green Room.

An earthquake of 6.6-magnitude struck Luding County in southwest China's quake-prone Sichuan province.
At least 21 casualties have been reported so far.
The earthquake impacted telecommunications lines, left the roads blocked and triggered mountain landslides that caused "serious damage", reported Chinese broadcaster CCTV.
Tremors were felt in the provincial capital Chengdu & the megacity Chongqing in Sichuan, China
The shocks forced some power stations to shut down in the areas of Garze and Yaan, reported Chinese broadcaster CCTV.
"All the dogs started barking. It was really quite scary. Some of my neighbours... said they felt it (the tremors) very noticeably," Chen, a resident of Chengdu, told AFP news agency.

Vaping can turn out to be as addictive as traditional smoking.

E-cigarettes were banned in India as they failed in their motive of reducing smoking habits in people and rather acted as an alternative. E-cigarettes in itself became a source of addiction, especially among teenagers. 
The government also stated that if vaping was legalised then it exposed the risk of initiating tobacco to non-smokers.

A study found that treating plants with a small amount of alcohol/ethanol can them survive for as long as two weeks without water. (Ethanol is neat alcohol. A small amount of the chemical is the same as a large number of normal alcoholic beverages.)
Plants are withering due to droughts and water scarcity due to sweletring heat in various parts of the world.
These findings were published in Plant and Cell Physiology.
Researchers at the RIKEN Center for Sustainable Resource Science in Japan performed an experiment and found out that giving alcohol/ethanol to plants may protect them to last longer during the droughts.
Dr Motoaki Seki, of the RIKEN Centre for Sustainable Resource Science in Japan, said that the discovery happened in the "process of searching for compounds that make plants resistant to stress".
It was noted that ethanol's capacity to revive stressed out plants was remarkable.
Ethanol also offers a practical way to increase food production as it is widely available.
Researchers also said that the team will soon begin testing ethanol on plants in real fields.
The research also warned that ethanol needs to be used carefully as "higher concentration of ethanol inhibits plant growth".

A 36-year-old Italian man tested positive for Coronavirus, HIV and Monkeypox after traveling back from a trip to Spain.
This was first such case where someone had tested positive for all three at the same time.
The man took a five day trip to Spain in June 2022.
The man was admitted to San Marco University Hospital in Catania, Italy.
After testing positive for Covid-19, the man developed a rash on his left hand and blisters on other parts of his body.
“This case highlights how Monkeypox and Covid-19 symptoms may overlap, and corroborates how in case of co-infection, anamnestic collection and sexual habits are crucial to perform the correct diagnosis,” noted the researchers at the University of Catania, Italy.
The 40-year-old German man had developed blisters all over his body. Initially, the red spot that the man developed on his nose rot off due to an undiagnosed HIV infection.

Tobacco and cigarette packets will display a new set of health warnings from December 1.
Two sets of warning messages and images will be used on both sides of the pack.
The first warning — also displayed on existing packs — 'Tobacco causes painful death', will be used with first image on one side of the pack.
The second warning will say, 'Tobacco users die young', with the second image on the other side of the pack.
The packs will also have a toll-free helpline, Quit Today Call Today (1800-11-2356), in white font on a black background
