Dr Abhay and Dr Rani Bang are known in the medical fraternity for their ground-breaking research.

Formerly a banker, Hemant Karnik has translated P Sainath’s ‘Everybody LovesA Good Drought’ into Marathi and also written a book ‘Ithe Oshalalaa Mrutyu’, documenting the parameters of Dr Bangs’ HBNC programme. He also has another book, ‘Kondi Adivasinchi and Naxalvadyanchi’ on the Naxalite problem in Gadchiroli.
