Hit Me Baby, One More Time: Why Himesh Reshammiya is back with 'Main Jahan Rahoon'

DailyBiteApril 2, 2019 | 17:31 IST

Just when you thought India was safe, Himesh Reshammiya announced his come-back!

Oh, the horror, the horror!

Trade analyst and critic Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share that Himesh Reshammiya's next, Main Jahan Rahoon, will be a love story — and (wait for it) it will be a franchise!

Nope, there's no respite.

"Himesh Reshammiya announces love story... Titled #MainJahanRahoon [will be made into a franchise]... Starring Himesh, who is currently undergoing acting workshops... Directed by Rajesh Sethi [who was associated with Yash Chopra]... Here's the first look of the film," Taran captioned a still from Himesh's upcoming film.

Taran goes on to reveal that Himesh will be collaborating with Javed Akhtar on this one — a first since Namastey London. The shooting of the film will begin on 27 September 2019 (on late director Yash Chopra's birth anniversary), and he is aiming for a 2020 release.

But that wasn't the only exposé about Himesh that came from Taran.

On Sunday, 31 March, Taran revealed that Himesh has acquired the rights of a biopic based on the life of Bishnu Shrestha — a heroic army officer who fought armed robbers in a train. The lead for this film is yet to be finalised — which gives us a tiny sliver of hope that it probably won't be Himesh himself.

No, no wait, there's more. Himesh is also aiming at a sequel to The Xposé, titled The Xposé Returns, along with a couple more projects.

We were almost certain that this was an April Fool's prank. But alas, it is true. Himesh is back!

Twitter, obviously, went to town with this news — can you blame 'em?

Some not-so-politely requested Himesh to stay where he is...

While others had a more direct question. Tell us, Himesh... Twitter wants to know.

Some had a very political opinion of the whole event.

A bit too political. Mirage = sarab... Geddit?

Most, however, were in denial. Yeah, we get it. It's too much to take in in one go.

Yes, the end is near. We cannot deny that...

Not that there is ever a good time for a Himesh Reshammiya film to drop — but NOW is definitely not. We already have Brahmastra, Tiger 3, Chhapaak, Dabangg 3, Kick 2 and oh-so-many movies to wait for. We could do without these, umm, delights, thank you very much.

Could maybe Modiji intervene and make it stop? Could somebody ban him for something? Anything?

We're keeping our fingers crossed.
