American rapper Cardi B will not be facing any charges and has been cleared of the criminal battery investigation over the microphone-throwing incident that took place in Las Vegas last weekend.
The case was never referred to the Clark County District Attorney's Office, and law enforcement confirmed that Cardi B did not commit a criminal offense.
On Saturday, July 29, the 30-year-old was performing at Drai's Beachclub & Nightclub in Las Vegas when she playfully asked the crowd to cool her down by splashing her with water due to the scorching Las Vegas heat. While she was performing, a concertgoer threw water at her, which led to her reacting by throwing the microphone directly at the alleged person responsible. Unfortunately, the mic ricocheted and accidentally hit another woman, who later filed a police complaint against Cardi B, making her a suspect for battery.
According to NBC, the woman reported to local law enforcement, stating that she experienced pain on her right shoulder due to the incident and planned to seek medical attention after returning home on 7/30/23.
Following a thorough review of the case and consultation with the Clark County District Attorney's Office, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officially closed the case due to insufficient evidence, clearing Cardi B's name. The department released a statement on Thursday, saying, "No charges will be filed in relation to this case."
In response to the news, Cardi B's lawyers, Drew Findling, David Chesnoff, and Richard Schonfeld, expressed their appreciation, stating to TMZ, "This afternoon we were notified by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Dept. that, as a result of their investigation, there will be NO charges against Cardi. On behalf of Cardi, we appreciate the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Dept's diligent and prompt resolution of this matter."
Interestingly, the infamous mic that was thrown by Cardi B is now up for auction on eBay, with bids hitting $100,000 (Rs 82,00,000). The proceeds from the auction will be split and donated to two charities, the Wounded Warrior Project and Friendship Circle Las Vegas.
