Why isn’t Roman Polanski in jail yet? A timeline of the 45-year-old rape case

Hollywood has had the most curious ways of protecting its abusers. A 45-year-old case in point involving director Roman Polanski intoxicating and raping a minor and then fleeing the US, absconding from all legal action against him.

In light of the unsealed court documents revealing broken promises made by the Judge in charge of the case in 1977, here is a timeline of events leading up to Polanski’s Defence renewing their efforts to resolve the case now.  

Los Angeles Superior Court judges have been adamant that the release of the Gunson testimony doesn't change things and Polanski will not be able to be sentenced in absentia.
