Focus on wrestling, creative storylines: How Triple H is changing the WWE

Paul Levesque, better known by his ring name Triple H, has been making a lot of creative change in the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). After the exit of former chairman Vince McMahon on July 22, Triple H has been calling the shots in the company.

From putting the focus back on Rhea Ripley of NXT to putting more relevance to the US Championship match or bringing in more wrestlers from NXT, WWE is up for a massive overhaul under Triple H.

Why fans want a change? One quality of McMahon which was frowned upon by the WWE universe was his penchant to drive wrestlers to entertainment figures who would eventually end up doing nothing and later get released by the company.

Shinksuke Nakamura is a prime example of how WWE messed up big time in utilizing the talent of the Japanese wrestler. He was roped in by Triple H to NXT in 2017, and, the same year, he made his debut in WWE. But slowly, his relevance as a wrestler started to diminish after he was put in boring story lines. This was resented by many Nakamura fans. Nakamura hasn't been released by the company, but he has also not been in the limelight in the recent past.

What changes Triple H is making: Triple H has initiated a sea of changes in women's wrestling. It is apparent that the creative head of WWE understands the value of women's wrestling. This is visible from how he has used Rhea Ripley from NXT. Instead of relying on few faces like Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey, Triphe H has started using more wrestlers in different story lines.

Change in commentary: The recent episode of SmackDown, and especially the commentary from Michael Cole, tells us that a lot has changed since Triple H took over. Now, Cole has been given the liberty to give his voice to the matches rather than following a poorly written script. This Friday, Cole was more energetic and excited than we have seen him in years. He recounted past elements of performers careers instead of character details that McMahon wanted him to focus upon.

Wrestler and wrestling no longer banned: Triple H has lifted the ban on words like 'wrestler' and 'wrestling' . These words were banned by former Chairman Vince McMahon. Triple H is expected to also remove the ban on words like 'blood', 'head shot', 'violence', 'WWF', 'babyface', 'heel', 'attack' etc. And if rumours are to be believed, the term 'Entertainment' from World Wrestling Entertainment can be replaced with 'Federation'.

What does Triple H want? Triple H wants the show to be more wrestling oriented, than it being focused towards providing 'sports entertainment', a phrase which might soon be done away with. He created NXT, which is loved by fans for putting great wrestling matches. Triple H wants the same change in WWE too.

What can the fans expect? Since Triple H has assumed the creative head role in the company, the stocks are running at an all-time high. The fans also have a reignited hope that now better matches and creative story lines will be pushed as it happened during the 'attitude era'. SummerSlam under his watch exceeded the expectations and it had a great ending. The coming pay-per-view main event Clash at the Castle will reveal more about what's going on inside the head of Triple H.

Gradually, the changes will start reflecting. Till then, we will have to wait and watch.
