Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has questioned Virat Kohli's attitude towards the game as the former India captain poor form continues.
Kohli has been struggling with his batting for a long time now. After having a poor show in IPL 2022, Kohli was rested for the five-match T20I series against South Africa.
During an interview with Pakistan TV channel Samaa TV, Afridi said he has doubts if Kohli plays cricket with same motivation as he used to earlier.
'ATTITUDE MATTERS THE MOST'
“In cricket, attitude matters the most. That is what I talk about the most. Do you have the positive attitude towards cricket or not? That Kohli, earlier in his career, wanted to be the No.1 batsman in the world. Is he still playing cricket with the same motivation? That is big question. He has the class. But does he really even want to be No.1 again? Or does he think he has achieved everything in life,” Afridi said.
WHEN AFRIDI SUPPORTED KOHLI
This is also the first time Afridi has criticised Kohli. When Kohli was removed as Test captain, Afridi had backed him.
“In my opinion, it is the right decision. There comes a stage, when you can’t take too much pressure and because of which your game gets affected. Virat has led Indian team well and its time for him to now focus on his batting,” Afridi had told Samaa TV.
KOHLI'S ROUGH PATCH
From getting knocked out early in the T20 World Cup to being stripped off captaincy from ODIs and Tests, Kohli had a turbulent 2021. It has been more than two years since Kohli scored an international century.
In 2022, Kohli struggled with his form all through the IPL. He was even bowled out on ducks thrice in the tournament.
