K-Drama Crash Landing On You couple Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin are married IRL
When Son Ye-jin’s character Yoon Se-ri crash-landed into actor Hyun Bin’s (character: Ri Jeong-hyeok) arms in the K-Drama Crash Landing On You, fans went crazy for the couple. Now, the reel couple has become a real couple.
South Korea’s much-loved actors Son Ye-jin (real name Son Eon-jin) and Hyun Bin (real name Kim Tae-pyung) tied the knot on March 31, 2022, Thursday, after more than 2 years of dating. Their agencies confirmed the announcement with the release of the first photos from the wedding ceremony.

- The wedding is being held in private, with only about 200 guests in attendance.

1. SECRET GARDEN
Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin’s first K-Drama together wasn’t in the 2019 K-Drama series Crash Landing On You, it was in fact in a 2011 series Secret Garden. Secret Garden starring Hyun Bin in the lead was a major hit at the time of release and it still remains one of the best K-Dramas of all time. While Son Ye-jin didn’t star as a main lead in the series, she made a cameo appearance in the series. However, the two actors did not share the same screen in the series.
2. THE NEGOTIATION
Fast forward to 2017-18, the two actors finally came together for a Korean crime thriller film, The Negotiation. But once again, the two actors did not directly share much of screen space together during the film, though both had leading roles. During an interview for The Negotiation, Hyun Bin told Esquire that he was looking forward to working with Son Ye-jin in the future where they share more screen space together.
Son Ye-jin in an interview during the film’s promotion had also revealed that her first impression of her now-husband was that he had great skin and hair and 'an actor that actresses are really into'.
Fun fact: The dating rumours between the two actors started swirling around the same time.
3. CRASH LANDING ON YOU
Finally, it was in 2019 that the two actors were cast opposite each other with more screen time together in the K-Drama Crash Landing On You. Dating rumours became stronger around this time. And it was in 2021 that tabloid outlet Korea Dispatch broke the news that the two have been dating for some time. The news was also confirmed by their respective agencies. Son Ye-jin even posted a photo of a flower bouquet on her Instagram account announcing their relationship.
The couple had announced their engagement on January 10, 2022 through their agencies.
Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin’s wedding is one of the biggest celebrity marriages this year in South Korea and for fans abroad. Just in January 2022, another Korean A-list actor Park Shin-hye had tied the knot with longtime beau and fellow actor Choi Tae-joon.
The wedding also signals a change in the Korean pop culture fan history. It is almost universal knowledge now that K-Pop and K-Drama fans, especially in South Korea, are pretty possessive of their favourite idols or actors. And that at times, K-Pop idols’ or actors’ dating rumours can result in bad press and fan comments for them.
