Remember when Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh got married and the world got to know about a certain 'Lake Como' in Italy? Well, it seems like Kourtney Kardashian's wedding to Travis Barker has brought light to a similar kickass place (most of) the world did not know of. That's right, it is the 15th century castle, Castello Brown. Though Kourtney Kardashian marrying Travis Barker dominated headlines, travel fanatics were more interested in knowing WHERE they were going to get hitched.

The Kardashian clan walked through the Italian roads, hopped on their boats (and superyachts) and travelled to and fro for the wedding festivities, and all eyes were glued to their Instagram accounts. As the Kardashians enjoyed their lavish 4-day trip under the Italian sun, and shared snaps on their Instagram stories, many of us mentally decided to manifest the same place to get married. Or just visit it, you know.

Kourtney and Travis got married at Villa Olivetta, a 20th century property owned by designers Dolce and Gabbana, and hosted their wedding reception at Castello Brown, the 15th century castle.

The place that stole the show was Castello Brown, a castle that has existed since 1425 but which was refurbished and renewed since then.

WHERE IS CASTELLO BROWN?

Castello Brown is nestled on a hilltop overlooking the harbour in Portofino, a seaside town in Northern Italy, just south of Genoa. It overlooks the Mediterranean Sea and every visitor swears by the gorgeous view.

Today, Castello Brown is one of Italy's prominent heritage castle and museum which is open to host weddings, conventions, art exhibitions and private events. But once upon a time, the castle was a military fortress in battles from the 13th to the 19th centuries. The fortress was restored through the centuries to ensure that it defended the fishing village of Portofino and the armies.

As per the website, the castle has existed since 1425. Tomaso Fregoso, the ruler of the Republic of Genoa was the first known ruler to occupy Portofino's castle. The castle was repeatedly attacked because of its prized location. The castle is named after British diplomat Montague Yeats Brown, who owned it from 1867 until his death in 1905, after which the private property was passed down the family.

In 1961, the Municipality of Portofino bought the castle under its purview and removed private ownership on the property.

After the takeover, the venue has been used as a museum and to host lavish events like Kourtney Kardashian's wedding reception.

WHAT DOES THE CASTLE LOOK LIKE FROM INSIDE?

The museum: The museum is surrounded by sprawling gardens and the interior of the museum features bas-relief sculptures carved into marble and slate. The ground floor rooms have gothic-style windows that allow natural daylight to flood in.

THE STAIRS: The staircase features stunning laggioni ceramic tiles while the stairwell boasts a medieval-style wooden ceiling covered with paintings of saints and rulers.

The first floor: There is a hall with a ceiling covered in Lombard-type cross-vaults which leads off into themed rooms, including the Dolcevita room filled with artwork of people who visited Portofino, such as Winston Churchill and Walt Disney.

Another room is dedicated to aquatic mammals like the whales and dolphins – and is a collaboration between the Park Authority of the marine reserve of Portofino and the Aquarium of Genoa.

Circular room: A circular room exhibits stunning aspects of local history and gives visitors an insight into Portofino’s rich history.

The terrace: The picturesque terrace is popular among tourists now as it has a lavish garden.

THE TOWER: The tower is a historical room where visitors can listen to a video which explains the history of the fishing village.

Wishing the Kardashian life right now, aren't you?
