A Welsh woman revisits Dhauj

Today was an extraordinary morning. Fiona, my Welsh co-worker, and I visited the village in Haryana which she lived in some 33 years ago. These startling azure blue doors are emblematic of the area around Dhauj.
A local villager standing proud over the entrance to the school house. In 1982, Fiona and her family shared living quarters in the same building.
The peeling paint cannot hide the proud arches. A child plays amongst the collonnade.
Fiona posing with a photo which she had taken back in 1990 with her then 8-year-old daughter Liza outside the apartment she used to live in.
Fiona's photo with Liza reproduced above.
Wonderful detailing on a door frame at the entrance to the building.
 Beauty in simplicity.
Magnificent wooden carving on a doorframe
Expert craftsmanship, one that has withstood time.
The doorway: another piece of remarkable artisanship.
This local man kept regaling the attendant bunch of children with stories of Fiona and him in their youth. But now, he lamented, both of them have "grown old"!
Our visit interrupted the work of the women, calling for a much needed break in the noon sun. The respite was brief: Fiona and I left after taking several pictures, both of us energised by our little adventure.
