Winter is wreaking havoc on numerous regions of the globe, shattering existing records and creating new ones. Every corner of the northern hemisphere is shivering right now due to an unexpected drop in temperature, from parts of India to the United States.
Take a look at some videos going viral on social media:
United States
Over the Christmas weekend, western New York was paralysed by a brutal storm, dubbed the "blizzard of the century". So far, the storm has killed 27 people in New York and at least 60 people throughout the US.
Automobiles, buses, ambulances, tow trucks, and even ploughs were buried under the snow on roads, hindering efforts to reach trapped citizens in need of medical attention. Many flights were also cancelled.
Japan
Heavy snowfall across Japan has killed over 17 people, injured nearly 90, and left hundreds of households without electricity, disaster management authorities said Monday, December 26.
Since last week, northern regions of Japan have had heavy snowfall, stranding hundreds of vehicles on highways and disrupting delivery services.
Canada
In Canada, hundreds of thousands of people were left without electricity. From Ontario and Quebec, numerous flights were cancelled in major cities, and railway passenger service between Toronto and Ottawa was interrupted.
India

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a severe cold wave warning for sections of north Rajasthan, as well as cold wave warnings for Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Punjab until Thursday, December 29.
