A fire at Levana Hotel in Lucknow killed 4. It will be demolished now.

A massive fire that broke out in Lucknow's Hotel Levana on Monday (September 5) morning left 4 dead and 10 injured. The injured were admitted at Lucknow's Shyama Prasad Mukerjee Civil Hospital. According to reports, the fire started in the kitchen of the hotel and later spread to other parts of the building .

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited the injured at the hospital and directed the officials to provide free treatment and relief measures to the injured, news agency ANI reported.

After the incident, the authorities got into action and ordered the building to be sealed and demolished.

Why is it going to be demolished? Lucknow Commissioner Roshan Jacob, who is also the chairman of Lucknow Development Authority (LDA), said that the hotel will be demolished because no copy of the approved map of the hotel was given to LDA.

The hotel which is located in Hazratganj area of Lucknow, was served a notice by LDA on May 7 over lack of safety measures.

Jacob said another notice over the map of the building was issued by the zonal officer on May 26 and on August 28, but no reply was given.

Also, the hotel didn't have adequate safety measures but it was still given a renewal certificate of the fire NOC (no objection certificate) from 2021 to 2024. Jacob said that this also remains a matter of investigation as to how the NOC was given.

Authorities swing into action: An FIR was registered and the owners, Rohit Agarwal and Rahul Agarwal, along with manager Sagar Srivastava were taken into custody.

• UP Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said that documents of Hotel Levana will be scrutinized to check if they had the necessary clearances.
• Along with the hotels, the local police will also be subjected to an investigation and a departmental inquiry will be initiated if anyone found guilty.
• Pathak had also said that a high-level inquiry committee will investigate the incident. The panel will have Principal Secretary (Home) Principal Secretary (Medical) and other senior officials.
• Lucknow Police Commissioner  SB Shirodkar and Lucknow Divisional Commissioner Roshan Jacob will soon submit preliminary reports on the fire incident to the government.
