Meri Maati Mera Desh campaign: What you need to know

Meri Maati Mera Desh (My Soil My Nation) is a campaign that commenced on August 9, 2023, as a part of the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.' It serves as a tribute to the courageous individuals, both men and women, who have made the ultimate sacrifice for India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the campaign's culminating event, the Amrit Kalash Yatra, at Kartavya Path. During this event, he will address a large gathering of Amrit Kalash Yatris from across the country.

What 

• The campaign's primary objective is to celebrate India's land and valor while honoring the nation's journey towards freedom and progress.
• By connecting with the soil and paying homage to our heroes, this initiative aims to instill a strong sense of national pride and inspire future generations to protect India's rich heritage.
• This campaign involves a diverse range of activities and ceremonies taking place at various levels across the country, from villages and towns to states and the national level.

Some of these activities include building memorials to express gratitude to the brave soldiers, taking a pledge known as 'Panch Pran,' planting indigenous tree saplings to create an 'Amrit Vatika' (a garden of nectar), and conducting ceremonies to honor freedom fighters and the families of those who sacrificed their lives for the country.

The Delhi Traffic Police has also issued traffic restrictions for events such as the 'Meri Mati Mera Desh-Amrit Kalash Yatra' and 'Run for Unity' taking place in the national capital.

A successful campaign

• Over 2.3 lakh Shilaphalakams have been created in 36 states and union territories.
• Nearly 4 crore 'Panch Pran Pratigya' selfies were shared.
• More than 2 lakh 'Virat Ka Vandan' programs were organised across the country.

• Over 2.36 crore indigenous saplings were planted, and 2.63 lakh Amrit Vatikas were created under the Vasudha Vandan theme all over the nation.

The 'Amrit Kalash Yatra' is also part of this campaign, where soil and rice grains were collected from more than 6 lakh villages in rural areas and urban wards.

This soil is mixed at the block level and sent to the state capital. From there, it is taken to the national capital along with thousands of Amrit Kalash pilgrims.

PM Modi will inaugurate the 'Amrit Vatika' and 'Amrit Mahotsav Memorial.'

These have been constructed with soil collected from all parts of the country as part of the 'Meri Maati Mera Desh' campaign.

This campaign was envisioned as the concluding event of the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav,' which was initiated on March 12, 2021, to celebrate 75 years of India's independence.

Since then, over two lakh programs have been organized across the country with enthusiastic participation from the public.
