Sreesanth in hot water as Legends League Cricket takes action over Gambhir spat

Former Indian pacer S Sreesanth might be in trouble as the organisers of Legends League Cricket (LLC) have initiated action against him. This came after the cricketer posted numerous videos on his social media handles talking about his spat with Gautam Gambhir.

According to an India Today report, the 40-year-old pacer received a legal notice from LLC for breaching the contract. The LLC stated that discussions with the player would only resume once he removes the videos criticising Gambhir in the preview of the LLC.

Incident details

• Sreesanth and Gautam Gambhir had a verbal altercation during the LLC eliminator match between Gambhir’s India Capitals and Gujarat Giants.
• A viral social media video captured the two exchanging words, requiring intervention from umpires and other players.

• Sreesanth criticised Gambhir as 'classless' and 'arrogant' after Gambhir posted a cryptic message on social media.
• However, the umpire's report to the LLC did not mention the ‘fixer’ term that Sreesanth alleged Gambhir used against him.

LLC’s official response

• The LLC released a statement amid the social media storm, affirming its commitment to taking action against anyone tarnishing the game's reputation.
• Raman Raheja, CEO of LLC, stated that all players contracted in the Legends Cricket League must adhere to certain conduct terms. The Codes of Conduct & Ethics committee will decide on necessary actions.
• The ongoing controversy might affect the participation of both Indian Capitals (IC) and Gujarat Giants (GG) players in future league events.
