Kejriwal is a Ramzada, if he's an Upadravi so are the other children of Ram

For some reason, Lord Ram has been spectacularly absent in the 2015 Delhi elections. In fact, ever since the little-known minister, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, narrowly escaped spending 10 years in jail for her (in)famous children-of-Ram comment on December 2, 2014, everybody has steered clear of invoking his name. Now, with AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal getting into a war of words about his 'gotra', the Lotus-eyed god is once again roaring back to politics.

It was yet another BJP cartoon ad for the Delhi elections: The AAP supremo was shown brandishing his broom at the Republic Day parade, in rage, threatening to play havoc for not getting a VIP pass. All because, the ad implies, he belongs to a gotra that's known to create nuisance, "upadravi gotra". Kejriwal is up in arms, demanding an apology: not just for himself but the entire "Agarwal Samaj," the community of traders, to which he belongs.

Enter Lord Rama. And here is Kejriwal's chance to denounce Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti-who called all BJP-detractors 'haramzade' (bastards)-and steal the BJP-RSS-VHP thunder forever.

It goes like this: Agarwals form a is a sub-caste under the third caste of the varna system: the vanikas or vaishyas, whose dharma was to ensure a community's prosperity. There are about 71 other sub-castes, under the vaishya rubric.

Each Hindu subcaste is an exogamous clan (meaning, their marriage is allowed only outside the group.) These clans are called gotra, biradari or vamsa, and each claims genealogy from one of the eight or nine legendary saints.

The Agarwal community formed its identity under the patronage of King Argasena of Agroha, a city of traders. He was apparently a contemporary of Lord Krishna and lived around 3000 BC.

And here comes the exciting bit: according to ancient texts, King Agrasena belonged to the Surya Vamsa or solar dynasty-of which Lord Rama was the 64the ruler-through the line of his son Luv.

So take back your words, BJP. The biggest BJP-baiter this elections is actually a 'Ramzada'. Withdraw the ad, BJP: if Kejriwal is an 'upadravi' by gotra, so are many other children of Rama. You all have the same gene.

How the world goes round and round.
