DailyBiteAugust 2, 2015 | 18:17 IST

While our Parliamentarians continue to trade accusations over communal politics and play the minority card for gaining votes and sidelining terror attacks, a report released by the ministry of home affairs has shown that communal violence has risen by nearly 30 percent in the first half of 2015 alone, with the country witnessing 330 riots so far.

Statistics released by the ministry, comparing the incidents of violence for the January-June period with the previous year's, show that 2014 saw 252 riots in which 33 people were reported dead while the toll rose to 51 this year.

The last six months have seen 1,092 casualties in the aftermath of communal strife across the country.
