Janata Dal United's Sharad Yadav, in the midst of a debate on the government's Insurance Bill, suddenly went on a tangent and waxed eloquence on women and skin colour. Yadav said, “The women of the south are dark but they are… their bodies…,” and talked about their “dancing skills”.
When DMK MP Kanimozhi objected, he shushed her, according to reports. "Your god is dark like Ravi Shankar Prasad (present in the House), but your matrimonial ads insist on white-skinned brides," he said. This not only saw Parliamentarians raise a hue and cry, but the outrage trickled on to, where else, the social media.
