Yogi Adityanath took oath as the Chief Minister (CM) of Uttar Pradesh (UP) for the second time in a row. In 35 years of UP’s history, Yogi will be the only CM to be re-elected for the second time. The saffron party swept to power on March 10, 2022, winning 273 seats with its allies. CM Yogi Adityanath was also elected as Gorakhpur Urban MLA.
The oath-taking ceremony which took place at Lucknow’s Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium. It was attended by high-profile political leaders. Chief Ministers of all 12 BJP ruled states were there to grace the event. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP President JP Nadda and several other BJP leaders were present at the oath-taking ceremony.
THE NEW NAMES IN THE CABINET
The new cabinet of Yogi Adityanath has some new names. Surprisingly, UP Deputy CM Dinesh Sharma has been dropped by the party this time. He is replaced by Brajesh Pathak, former Law Minister and MLA from Lucknow Cantt constituency.
Also, Keshav Prasad Maurya has been retained as the Deputy CM despite him losing the assembly contest from the Sirathu seat.
BJP UP State President Swatantra Dev Singh also found a place in the cabinet. Along with him, Modi loyalist Arvind Kumar Sharma, BJP’s Dalit face Baby Rani Maurya, Apna Dal(S) leader Anupriya Patel’s husband Aashish Patel and Nishad Party’s head Sanjay Nishad have been included in Yogi’s cabinet ministry.
Also, Energy Minister Shrikant Sharma, Cabinet Minister Siddharth Nath Singh, Minority minister Mohsin Raza and Jal Shakti Minister Mahendra Singh have been dropped this time.
