The classic "Uno reverse" move is precisely what unfolded in this case.

Virtual Dining Concepts (VDC), the company responsible for the MrBeast Burger venture are taking legal action against the YouTuber MrBeast and his Beast Investments, citing breach of contract and deliberate harmful intervention. The claimed damages are believed to surpass $100 million.

This happened just a week after the MrBeast AKA Jimmy Donaldson filed a lawsuit against VDC over poor and inedible quality of burger ruining his reputation.

What

  • MrBeast filed a lawsuit against VDC in the US District Court of New York on Monday July 31.
  • He alleged that the company failed to uphold the burger quality, asserting that they were occasionally of substandard quality.
  • He requested a legal intervention to allow him to end the agreement.
  • The complaint suggests that the company was more interested in expanding its ghost kitchen concept than in maintaining the quality of the MrBeast Burger customer experience.

Lawsuit backfired

VDC fired back, labelling his lawsuit as a soufflé of no merit and called it downright misguided.

  • VDC called Donaldson's lawsuit baseless, saying that he had broken their agreement.
  • They also accused him of trying to make a new deal to benefit himself and avoid his responsibilities.
  • The lawsuit claims that Donaldson didn't fulfil his promotional duties and even said negative things about MrBeast Burgers and VDC, causing serious damage.
  • VDC points to deleted tweets where Donaldson wanted to end the partnership and criticised the deal he had signed.

It's like a digital drama buffet!

The MrBeast Burger brand made its debut in December 2020 and rapidly expanded to 1,700 locations worldwide by the close of 2022.

With the exception of a single physical restaurant, this burger chain functions as a virtual entity, operating from partner kitchens.

Virtual Dining Concepts, co-founded by Robert Earl, the brains behind Planet Hollywood, specialises in virtual kitchens and delivery-focused concepts. They collaborate with food delivery services and have supported celebrity brands, including those associated with Mariah Carey, Mario Lopez, and DJ Pauly D.

MrBeast holds the title of being the most followed content creator on YouTube, boasting over 174 million subscribers. He claimed the top spot as the highest-earning YouTuber in 2021.

His fame stems from his grand prize giveaways and daring stunts, which have garnered him an extensive and dedicated fanbase.
