Mohammad BilalMarch 31, 2022 | 17:25 IST

Both Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) started their stint in IPL 2022 with a loss. While Chennai lost the first encounter to Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR) in the opening match, LSG lost the match to Gujarat Titans (GT).

In today’s match, either of the team will be a winner indeed. But for Lucknow, the dim prospects of KL Rahul is a big issue. Even while in Punjab, KL Rahul had lost very close games including even two super overs. His fate continued in LSG too. For Chennai, Ravindra Jadeja leading the team instead of Dhoni will be a challenging task.

Nevertheless, both the teams have strong players in their sides. For CSK Moen Ali comes back in the team. In LSG, a star player Ayush Badoni has emerged as a big player.

Here are some key players to watch out today:

Deepak Hooda played a sensation knock in the match against Gujarat Titans. The right handed batter scored 51 of 41 balls. He also bowled three overs and took one wicket conceding 31 runs. The all-rounder was picked at 5.75 crores because of his previous performance in IPL.

Against Hooda is Chennai’s skipper Ravindra Jadeja who is also one of the best senior all-rounders in the Indian team. Jadeja in the match against KKR scored 26 of 28 balls. The Saurashtra cricketer will have a big role to play in today’s match against LSG.

QUINTON DE KOCK (LSG) vs MOIN ALI (CSK)

Quinton De Kock will be an interesting player to watch today. The South-African wicket-keeper and batter plays an attacking game. He though scored only 7 runs in the last match against Gujarat but his battings skills are high for which he was picked at 6.75 crore.

Up against Quinton De Kock is CSK’s Moin Ali who is a trump card for CSK. The England all-rounder was retained at 8 crore by the franchise. He also played a super knock in guiding CSK to the victory against KKR in finals in 2021. He scored an unbeaten 37 of 20 balls hitting three sixes and two fours in his innings. The player will be watch out for today against LSG.

AVESH KHAN (LSG) VS DWAYNE BRAVO (CSK)

Avesh Khan was a surprise pick by LSG whom they got at 10 crore. Gautam Gambhir had shown immense faith in the Madhya Pradesh seamer. The best thing about Khan’s bowling is that he can swing the ball both ways.

To counter Avesh, CSK all arounder Dwayne Bravo whom the management retained at 4.40 crore. The West- Indian batter played a super game last time against KKR picking three wickets in four overs giving just 20 runs. Bravo being in tremendous form has always been a good sign for CSK.

AYUSH BADONI (LSG) VS RUTURAJ GAIKWAD (CSK)

Ayush Badoni was a real steal deal for LSG in IPL 2022. The under-19 cricketer scored 54 of 41 balls in his first debut match only. By doing this he becomes the third youngest player to score a half century in his debut match after Shreevats Goswami and Devdutt Padikkal. Badoni would definitely be a player to watch out today.

Against Badoini is CSK’s premium player Ruturaj Gaikwad who emerged as a star player in IPL 2021. In the 16 matches he played for CSK, he scored 635 runs with his top score at 101. His average in the whole tournament was 44.16 with the strike rate at 131.30. He was retained by CSK at 6 crore.

The match starts on March 31, 2020 at 7:30 pm at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai.
