A pioneering leg-spin bowler, Richie Benaud played in 63 Tests, 28 as captain, before retiring in 1964 to pursue a career in journalism and broadcasting. Within hours of his death on Friday, Benaud was described as a "national treasure" and praised by his peers, current players and the country's prime minister.
