5 unique video games you should buy right now

1. The Darkness 2 (Rs 299)

The sequel to the 2007 sleeper hit, The Darkness 2, picks up right where the original left off with the main protagonist Jackie Estacado now completely enveloped by the "Darkness", a supernatural force that inhabits his body. The Darkness 2 has a really good storyline that ties up some loose ends from the original while still managing to surprise with a few neat twists here and there.

The Darkness 2 plays very differently to a normal FPS with a bevy of darkness powers at your disposal in conjunction with a variety of weapons. It makes for a very unique play style.

2. Life Is Strange (episode one for Rs 56, all five episodes for Rs 282)

If you have played any of the Walking Dead adventure games from Telltale, you have a fair idea of what to expect from Life is Strange, except that it takes inspiration from these style of games and goes off and does its own thing.

It's got a brilliant, emotional story that has you making choices from time to time which will impact the way the story plays out. Life is Strange was one of the best adventure games to come out in 2015 and with a price as low as Rs 56 for episode one, it's not too expensive to try it out right now.

3) D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die (season one for Rs 158, deluxe edition for Rs 240)

Created by Hidetaka Suehiro (Better known as Swery65), the man who gave us the off the wall, completely crazy Deadly Premonition, it is a game about a man who loses his wife in an accident and his quest to find the killer leads him down a rabbit hole full of strange, eclectic characters and situations that are crazy and hilarious at the same time, and you can't help but smile.

Steam sales are often the best time to try games you may have some apprehensions about and while it isn't perfect, it is something that will leave a lasting impression.

4. Revolver 360 Reactor (Rs 92)

It is a unique Bullet Hell/Shoot em-up hybrid that embodies what's great about the genre, that is a screen full of enemies and bullets to dodge while mixing its own unique take, which.

The gameplay is fast, frantic and constantly keeps you on your toes as you dodge projectiles from everywhere while keeping an eye on the world around you as you swerve and rotate to keep out of harm's way.

5. Distance (Rs 282)

The Spiritual Sequel to the unique survival racing game Nitronic Rush, Distance presents a unique TRON-inspired take on Arcade Racing. Its single player mode sets you up for the experience with vibrant visuals and a fantastic, pulse-pounding soundtrack that is even beat-matched to some of the environments.

The game recalls classics such as F-Zero and Wipeout while giving you a host of mobility options for your car and an assortment of twisted challenging levels that will test you. The icing on the cake is the vast amount of user-generated content already available along with a smattering of multiplayer modes. The best part? The game is an early access title which is in beta. That means there is a lot more content on the way.
