45 whales die after washing up on Tamil Nadu shores

Around a 100 fin whales got washed up on a beach, 600km from Chennai, in Tamil Nadu's Tuticorin district on Tuesday morning. According to officials, the whales seem to be disoriented as they returned to the shore even after being put back in the water.

In August, the carcass of a 33-feet-long whale was on a beach near a village in Nagapattinam district.

The fin whale is the second largest mammal in the world.
