Election commission dares to bare, Twitter keeps everyone glued to EVMs

Are you ready for the EVM Challenge? Well, the Election Commission of India is. The poll panel has dared all "interested parties" to crack its EVMs and announced a "hackathon" on June 3.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had earlier in the month carried out a demo in a special session of Delhi Assembly, where it hacked an EVM prototype to prove its allegations of rigging in the recently concluded Assembly elections in five states and civic polls in Delhi.

Responding to these claims, chief election commissioner Nasim Zaidi at a press conference today (May 20) dismissed the possibility of manipulating the functioning of the machines either during manufacturing, polling and transportation stages or when they are stored. He also assured that there cannot be manipulation in a planned manner in the manufacturing stage of the machines as alleged by the AAP.

While its difficult to say if the AAP and others who doubt the efficacy of the EVMs can prove themselves right on June 3, the twitterati already seem to know the outcome. Here's what they had to say.

Well, all "interested parties" will hopefully find the answer to their query on June 3. Till then, keep watching this space.
