Chinese Olympic diver's winning proposal on stage will melt your heart

Chinese diver He Zin might have won only a silver in the 3m springboard event at the Rio Olympics 2016, but she won gold, rather diamond, in love.

The ace diver had just collected her silver medal when her boyfriend and teammate Qin Kai, who had won bronze in the men's 3m springboard event last week, in perfectly Hollywood-esque fashion, bent down on one knee and proposed to her holding a small red box with a diamond ring.

“I didn’t know he would propose today,” said 25-year-old He, who tearfully accepted the proposal.

Qin then gave her a red rose encased in glass and the crowd roared in delight as the couple hugged.

“He said a lot of things, made a lot of promises, but I think the thing that touched me the most is I think this is the guy I can trust for the rest of my life,” He told the BBC.

The sporting couple have been dating for the past six years.

It seems love is in the air at Rio this year.  The diving duo join another couple - volunteer manager Marjorie Enya proposed to her girlfriend and Brazilian Olympic rugby player Isadora Cerullo on the pitch on Monday, August 8.

Well, what can we say. Love is winning at the Olympics and how.

Not surprisingly, Twitteratti was soon gushing with awwws and ooohs.

Here are some of the reactions on social media:
