Before the internet, you either had to be a part of a kings' court, be a drunk muscian or be in movies to be culturally relevant. In the social media age, everyone is a retweet away from the hallowed concept called "virality". From bathroom singers to funny furries (cats doing fun stuff), there's a place for everyone in the internet.

One such dude, who is taking India-Pakistan's Facebook by storm is a Pakistani fruit-seller. This guy roams the streets trying to sell apples and mangoes while dropping songs as if he were the second coming of Elvis, or closer home, Altaf Raja.

His virality quotient is off the charts, and it all started with him slaying a cover of "Baate ye Kabhi na" from movie Khamoshiyan, originally sung by Arijit Singh.

Tahir Zaman's became famous after he covered Arijit Singh's (pic above) cover of "Baate ye kabhi na".

Tahir Zaman's mad singing skills were first displayed on the "All Pakistan Drama Page" on Facebook and has gone on to accumulate over 10,00,000 views and over 29,000 shares.

Pakistani news channel Duniya News tracked the story and interviewed Tahir, who said his favorite singer is the ghazal king Ustad Ghulam Ali Khan. And that now his video has gone viral, he was expecting some guidance and opportunities to pursue singing as a career.

This is another example of the internet's democratic nature. It treats everyone as an equal and treats everyone on merit. More or less.

Hope, as they say, springs eternal. (On the internet, at least.)
