On the occasion of International Women's Day, the social media has been flooded with campaigns aimed at empowering women. Google India launched #HerStoryOurStory. Twitter India also came up with Hindi hashtags on this occasion. While the day has been observed since the '90s, socialist and communist countries celebrated the day long before the UN adopted it in 1977. The United Nations decides a theme every year. This year, the theme is #PressforProgress.
Many women, however, do not approve of a single day for the cause of women empowerment. Here's what Indian women think of the day.
No equal world
Don't give up
Good men exist
Take a step back
More women in Parliament
Want no part of it
All people's day
A day to revive self-belief
Is the idea misled?
Be unstoppable
