Armie Hammer reasons out all rape and cannibalism accusations, but with a disclaimer

Two years since the Hollywood actor faced serious allegations of sexual assault and cannibalism, Armie Hammer has finally responded to the claims.

The allegations were first made on social media by a woman claiming to be his former lover and have since spread, with several other women coming forward with similar stories. The women corresponded to allegations of sexual assault and misconduct, exposing the actors cannibalistic proclivities and BDSM fetishes.

The first set of allegations were made on the Instagram account @houseofeffie, which claimed to be run by Hammer’s former partner.

  • The account alleged that Hammer was abusive towards her and engaged in cannibalistic fantasies.
  • She claimed that he had sent her graphic messages that discussed his desire to eat her flesh, among other disturbing acts.

Several other women have since come forward with similar stories, including allegations of violence and psychological abuse. Some have also claimed that Hammer had a fetish for cannibalism and BDSM.

Armie speaks up: While acknowledging that the "power dynamics were off", the actor has finally broken his silence and refuted the accusations in a recent interview with Air Mail, saying all of the interactions were consensual. He said that he had been emotionally abusive in relationships, and he was now accepting responsibility for his "mistakes" as well as having attended rehab for substance abuse.

“I would scoop up these women, bring them into it – into this whirlwind of travel and sex and drugs and big emotions flying around – and then as soon as I was done, I’d just drop them off and move on to the next woman, leaving that woman feeling abandoned or used,”

Hammer details encounters with a pastor as a child, at the hands of whom he was sexually abused,

“What that did for me was it introduced sexuality into my life in a way that was completely out of my control. I was powerless in the situation. I had no agency in the situation. Sexuality was introduced to me in a scary way where I had no control. My interests then went to: I want to have control in the situation, sexually.”

Furthermore, he also added that after the controversy surfaced, he contemplated suicide,

“I just walked out into the ocean and swam out as far as I could and hoped that either I drowned, or was hit by a boat, or eaten by a shark. Then I realised that my kids were still on shore, and that I couldn’t do that to my kids.”

Hollywood responded to the allegations against Armie Hammer with a mixture of shock, concern, and caution.

Many celebrities have taken to social media to express their disbelief and to emphasise the importance of taking these allegations seriously. Some have called for a thorough investigation into the matter, while others have expressed support for the women who have come forward with their stories.

The industry has also been quick to distance itself from Hammer, with some companies cutting ties with the actor and dropping him from projects including Shotgun Wedding, Gaslit, The Offer, and Next Goal Wins; and was dropped also by his talent agency, WME.

A Vanity Fair article, published in March 2021, highlighted Hammer’s upbringing in the Cayman Islands, where he was raised in a wealthy and privileged environment. However, the article also revealed that Hammer’s childhood was marked by abuse and neglect, with several family members and close associates of the family being accused of physical and sexual abuse.

The article also revealed that Hammer’s father, Michael Hammer, was a former drug addict and convicted felon who served time in prison for racketeering. Michael Hammer was also linked to a cult-like organisation known as The Fellowship, which has been accused of promoting extreme conservative and anti-Semitic views.

Then, House of Hammer drops: The Discovery+ original House of Hammer dropped in September 2022, and drove the final nail in the coffin of Hammer's reputation. While the series opened to mixed reactions and severe criticism from the survivors whose text messages were used without consent in House of Hammer, one point was certain: this was the point of no-return for Armie Hammer's career.

The film industry has faced criticism in the past for its lack of response to allegations of abuse and harassment, with some critics arguing that the industry needs to do more to protect women and support survivors.

In this case, the response from Hollywood has been swift, with many taking a strong stance against any form of violence or abuse.

Not enough: However, some have argued that the response from Hollywood is not enough and that more needs to be done to ensure that these kinds of allegations are taken seriously and investigated thoroughly. The industry must take responsibility for ensuring that it does not protect those who engage in abusive behaviour, and must support survivors of abuse.

The allegations have sparked intense public interest and are currently under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department. No charges have been levelled against Hammer as of yet.
