Bollywood actor Aamir Khan is upset over the social media anger against his upcoming movie Laal Singh Chaddha, slated to release on August 11. The actor expressed his disappointment over the whole boycott campaign in the past few days.

What is the campaign? Social media users started the trend #BoycottLalSinghChaddha on Twitter, asking people not to watch the movie. Many of them have been angry over his comments made in 2015 about rising intolerance in India and also his recent visit to Turkey and meeting Turkey President Recip Tayyip Erdogan's wife Emine Erdogan.

What Aamir said: Reacting to the boycott calls of Laal Singh Chaddha, Aamir said that he was upset. At a recent media gathering on Sunday, Aamir said that he was sad to know about it. The Dangal actor went on to complain about the suspicion in the hearts of few people that he is not patriotic or that he doesn't love his country.

"I feel sad. I feel sad because a lot of people who are saying this in their hearts believe that, but that's quite untrue," The Indian Express reported.

"I really love the country. That's how I am. It is rather unfortunate if some people felt that way. I want to assure everyone that it's not the case so please don't boycott my films. Please watch my films," he said.

Aamir has always found himself entangled in controversies over the years, but he always managed to overcome them. But in the last few years, he has been on the receiving end.
