Kim Kardashian reacts to reports of damaging the Marilyn Monroe dress. Finally

Kim Kardashian wore the historic Marilyn Monroe's iconic 'Happy Birthday' dress at the 2022 Met Gala. A few days after the event, reports came in that the 60-year-old dress had been damaged by Kim. Fashion enthusiasts and Marilyn Monroe fans showed their concern over the damaged dress with before and after photos of the dress. Many on social media claimed that the dress had loose threads and missing crystals after Kim wore it to the Met Gala red carpet on May 2.

Kim has now finally reacted to all those allegations. In an interview with Today, Kim said that she wanted to wear this dress and it was really important to her.

Further in the interview Kim said, 'I respect [Marilyn]. I understand how much this dress means to American history and with the [Met] theme being American, I thought what is more American than Marilyn Monroe singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to the President of the United States.'

When asked whether the dress was ruined or not, she shook her head and added, 'No … Ripley’s [and I] worked together so well. There were handlers and gloves that put it on me.'

Some clarification:

Kim also explained the events of that day to clear further doubts. 'It was such a process. I showed up to the red carpet in a robe and slippers and I put the dress on at the bottom of the carpet, went up the stairs … I probably had it on for three minutes, four minutes, and then I changed at the top of the stairs.'

Some more:

She also highlighted her weight loss before the big event. Kim revealed that she lost 16 ponds to fit into the dress with the help of a healthy diet and lifestyle because she vowed not to make any alterations to the dress.

What you need to know about the dress:

The sparkling dress is now valued at over $10 million.
Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum in Orlando bought this dress for $4.8 million (5 million after taxes and fees) in 2016. Ripley’s told The Post that it is the “world’s most expensive dress” ever sold at an auction.

Monroe wore the gown when she sang Happy Birthday to US President John F Kennedy in 1962
