Ranbir Kapoor’s stunning entry scene in Animal remains one of the most discussed points about Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal. Not just because of his looks, but because of the mind-blowing background music, which was an instrumental rendition of Chinni Chinni Aasa, the AR Rahman composition from Roja.
The score was done by a nine-member band, who were brought on board by director Sandeep Reddy Vanga after a live performance by them at an event in Hyderabad in 2017 blew him away.
The origins of Threeory
- The band started out with three people in 2013 and was based in Hyderabad, Telangana.
- Their prowess lies in creating music that is a fusion of progressive rock with Telugu and South Indian music.
- What they did in Animal during Ranbir’s entry scene, was their speciality, something they are known for.
- Since 2013, the band has grown to nine people. The group has Mark Talor on keys, Datta Sai Prasa on violin, Tarun Vishal on drums, Imtiakum on drums,Sentilong Ao on guitar, Syntyche Mongro as female vocalist, Akhileshwar Chennu as male vocalist, Irfan Ahmed on sitar, and Pavan Kumar MS on tabla.
How did Animal happen?
- It just happened that the band was performing at the audio launch of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s movie Arjun Reddy, six years ago.
- Sandeep Reddy Vanga was mighty impressed by their performance, and he looked for their work on YouTube. The director came across a video, and simultaneously he encountered and thought of a scene in the movie Animal.
- The video was said to be of Threeory performing at Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad, where they had recreated the music of AR Rahman’s Roja with their own touch.
- When Vanga was making Animal, he had already thought of Threeory scoring the background for Ranbir Kapoor’s entry scene.
- “When Vanga reached out to us for a shoot in Mumbai, we did not know anything about the movie. We hurried to the location, and upon being introduced to Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna, we were awestruck. We cannot forget the moment when Ranbir introduced himself to us,” violinist Sai Prasa told Telangana Today.
- The scene was shot for two days, and in Sai’s words, “It was a dream come true.”
- Though the group had announced their work in Animal before the release, their popularity skyrocketed once the audience saw their work in the movie.
- The band has a cameo in Animal, when Ranbir makes an entry at Rashmika's engagement.
- And since then, the praise hasn’t stopped for their work.
The band regularly performs at pubs and events in Hyderabad and is also open to any opportunities that come their way. It is also gearing up for the release of their original tracks next year.
