Ranveer Singh and 5 Indian celebrities whose nude photos 'hurt sentiments'

Actor Ranveer Singh's recent nude photoshoot for Paper Magazine set the internet on fire and triggered a meme fest. But it seems like the photos offended some people too. A lawyer and former journalist from a Mumbai-based NGO wrote to the Mumbai police seeking an FIR against the actor for "hurting women's sentiments" and outraging their modesty by posing nude for a photoshoot.
Mumbai's Chembur police station has filed an FIR against the Bollywood actor under IPC Sections 292 (obscenity), 293, 509 and sections of the IT Act.

The Indian society is for sure very conservative and such a case was almost expected. Ranveer Singh is also not the first, and won't be the last celebrity to face legal trouble for their nude photoshoots and scenes.
Here are 5 other Indian celebrities who dropped their clothes and offended a section of people:

An FIR was filed against model Poonam Pandey and her ex-husband in Goa in 2020 for holding a semi-nude photoshoot in a public space. A charge sheet was also filed in the case against the two for committing an obscene act. Pandey had also reacted to Ranveer Singh's recent nude photoshoot saying that he beat her at her own game.
2. Milind Soman
Perhaps, actor-cum-model Milind Soman is the most famous on this list for his nude scenes and photoshoots. In 2020, Goa police also registered a case against Soman under Section 294 (obscenity) of the IPC and other sections of the IT Act for his nude jogging picture from a beach.
Soman posted the picture to his Instagram account celebrating his 50th birthday.
3. Sofia Hayat
Singer, actor and TV personality best known for being a contestant on Bigg Boss 7, Sofia Hayat courted controversy when she posted a butt-naked picture of herself posing in front of the 'Om' symbol in 2020. Following the post, a netizen named Ramesh Solanki filed a cyber complaint against Hayat for hurting Hindu sentiments.

Remember Aamir Khan's naked scene with a radio covering his modesty in the movie PK? That scene was all over the poster for the film as well. And it ruffled more than a few feathers. A district court in Madhya Pradesh ordered the police to register an FIR against the actor, director, producer and others involved in the movie on charges of obscenity. On the other hand, the Supreme Court dismissed a PIL seeking a ban on the movie poster.
5. Kareena Kapoor
The 2009 movie Kurbaan made a lot of noise for its sex scene than anything else. What's more, the movie poster also had Kareena Kapoor posing topless with her co-star and now-husband Saif Ali Khan. The nude scenes and poster did not sit right with Shiv Sena at the time, who tried to get the film banned from theatres but were unsuccessful. Shiv Sena had called the poster and the scenes "vulgar".
