Russel Brand, accused of raping 4 women, finds support in Musk, Tate and Carlson

Comedian and actor Russel Brand has been embroiled in a series of disturbing allegations dating back to 2006, including accounts of sexual assault, emotional abuse, and controlling behaviour. Four women have come forward with their claims, spanning a period of seven years while Brand was at the height of his fame.

The women, including one who was just 16, made the allegations after an investigation by The Sunday Times, The Times and Channel 4 Dispatches.

While Brand vehemently denies these allegations, stating that all his relationships were consensual, a timeline of events suggests otherwise…

TRIGGER WARNING (Descriptions of sexual assault and abuse/manipulation)

A woman alleges that in 2006, when she was just 16 and still in school, she entered into a three-month relationship with Brand.

  • At that time, Brand was a 30-year-old BBC radio presenter and host of "Big Brother’s Big Mouth". She described their initial encounter in Leicester Square, where Brand scrutinised her shopping bags and selected a dress for their upcoming date.
  • Concerned about the age gap, she confided in her mother, who advised her to inform Brand of her true age. However, this did not deter Brand, who continued the relationship, referring to her as "the child".
  • The woman claimed that Brand exhibited controlling, sexually, and emotionally abusive behaviour. He even sent a car to her school to take her out of lessons and instructed her to save his name as "Carly" in her phone to deceive her parents.
  • Allegedly, he provided her with "scripts" on how to lie to her parents and advised her to conceal the relationship from her friends, leading her to describe the experience as "isolating". Both the woman and a family member characterised Brand's actions as grooming.

Jordan Martin accused Brand of sexually assaulting her and subjecting her to physical and emotional abuse during their six-month relationship starting February 2007.

  • She claimed that the incident occurred at the Lowry hotel in Manchester when Brand became enraged after discovering she had communicated with an ex-boyfriend. In her account, Brand angrily dismantled her phone case and then sexually touched her, leaving her feeling violated.
  • Martin disclosed these allegations in a book published in 2014. While she declined to be interviewed by investigative reporters, she stood by her account when speaking to the Sunday Times. Brand denied all the allegations made in the Sunday Times report but had never contested the content of the book.

In July 2012, a woman accused Brand of raping her against a wall at his Los Angeles home. According to her account, she had refused to engage in sexual activity with one of Brand's friends, leading to the alleged assault.

  • She claimed that she had asked Brand to stop and expressed a desire to leave, but he persisted and briefly blocked the door, preventing her exit. She received medical attention at a Rape Treatment Centre on the same day and underwent therapy for five months.
  • Records seen by the Sunday Times revealed that she had considered pursuing criminal or civil proceedings but ultimately chose not to.
  • After the incident, Brand sent her text messages apologising for his behaviour and describing it as "crazy and selfish." The incident allegedly occurred in the same month that Brand's divorce from singer Katy Perry was finalised.

Another woman, who initially met Brand at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting, claimed that he sexually assaulted her at his Los Angeles home. She alleged that he attempted to kiss her, removed her clothing against her will, and pinned her down.

  • In her distress, she repeatedly shouted for him to stop, exclaiming, "What are you doing, stop, please, you're my friend." According to her, Brand eventually relented but became enraged and fired her.
  • Years later, she spoke to an individual who had been present at the time of the incident and who corroborated her account, stating, "I heard you screaming" and adding, "We were all so scared of him." The woman asserted that Brand threatened her with legal action if she disclosed her allegations and never formally reported him out of fear for her career.

The woman who accused Brand of sexual assault during the 2006 relationship when she was 16 contacted his literary agent, who was also the co-founder of the talent agency Tavistock Wood.

  • She alleged that a lawyer representing Brand denied the allegations and suggested she was seeking money. In response to these allegations, Tavistock Wood severed all professional ties with Brand, stating that they believed they had been misled by him.

On September 16, 2023, the joint investigation revealed these allegations to the public.

The night before the publication of the report, Brand released a video online vehemently denying the claims and characterising them as a "coordinated attack" to discredit him due to his outspoken viewpoints, maintaining that all his relationships had been consensual.

The Three Stooges respond

In response to these accusations, several notable figures, including Tesla owner Elon Musk, social media influencer Andrew Tate, and political commentator Tucker Carlson, have publicly expressed their support for Brand.

Musk suggested that Brand's criticism of the media might be the reason behind the allegations, stating, "Of course. They don’t like competition."

Andrew Tate, however, is currently awaiting trial in Romania on charges of rape and human trafficking, which just makes his endorsement of Brand all the more interesting.

Tucker Carlson also offered his support, asserting that speaking out on issues like drug companies and the Ukraine conflict can lead to such allegations.

Past partners and police response

It's essential to consider that Brand's ex-wife, Katy Perry, previously described his behaviour as "very controlling," and Dannii Minogue referred to him as a "vile predator" back in 2006.

The Metropolitan Police have acknowledged the media reports surrounding these allegations but have not received any formal reports related to the matter. Despite the allegations, Brand continues to perform and entertain his audience. During a sold-out gig in London, he cautiously addressed the situation, implying that there are certain topics he cannot discuss openly.

The outcome remains uncertain, as both Brand's defenders and accusers continue to shape the narrative surrounding these troubling allegations.
