3 Afghanistan players who might be in high demand in the IPL auctions

The Indian Premier League (IPL) mini auctions are expected to be held on December 19, and the franchises would have certainly marked players who have displayed exuberant performance in the ongoing World Cup. 

The mini-auctions might see some new players making their entry into the tournament. Amongst them, the players of Afghanistan will be out to watch for. While players like Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmed, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Naveen ul Haq have already played the IPL, there are a few more who might go for hefty prices at the auctions.

Here are 3 Afghanistan players who are expected to fetch a good amount in the auctions:

1. Ibrahim Zadran

• The 21-year-old right-handed batter played the best ODI innings of his career against Australia on November 6. 
• The opener smashed 129 runs off 143 balls, hitting 3 sixes and 8 fours in his innings.
• Zadran played a crucial role in taking Afghanistan's innings to 291, against the fiery Australian bowling attack .

  

   

• A prolific hitter of the ball, Zadran has surpassed expectations this World Cup, even going ahead of his comrade Rahmanullah Gurbaz.
• He has scored 361 runs in 8 innings averaging 45.125.
• Zadran has also featured in 24 T20I games scoring 530 runs in 24 matches at an average of 26.50.
• He will be a player to watch out for at the auctions.

2. Azmatullah Omarzai

• The allrounder stunned the Australian team when he dismissed David Warner and Jos Inglis on two consecutive balls in the World Cup match on November 6.
• Azmatullah Omarzai, in fact, registered a decent performance this World Cup, scoring 256 runs in 8 matches and getting 7 wickets so far.

  

   

• Having made his debut in ODIs in 2021, Omarzai has played exceptionally well scoring 393 and getting 13 wickets in 21 matches.
• In T20Is, Azmatullah has clinched 11 wickets in 24 matches and has scored 185 runs.
• Allrounders are cherished in T20 tournaments and thereby, Azmatullah Omarzai will be a hot candidate in the IPL mini-auctions.

3. Hashmatullah Shahidi

• The Afghanistani skipper has led his troops from the front in the ongoing World Cup.
• A top-order right-handed batter and an occasional off-spinner, Hashmatullah Shahini has amassed 308 runs in 8 outings in this World Cup.
• He registered decent scores in the last four matches making 26, 56, 58 and 48. 

  

   

• Having been in the Afghanistan side since 2013, when he made his ODI debut, Shahidi has featured in 72 ODIs and 6 T20I matches.
• Though not in the league of Ibrahim Zadran or Rashid Khan, Hasmatullah Shahidi will indeed be a player to watch out for at the auctions.
