Champions League final: Liverpool has the edge in blockbuster clash against Real Madrid

Liverpool and Real Madrid will face off in the Champions League final at Stade de France in Paris on Saturday.

There is no bigger game in club football than the UEFA Champions League final.

Six-time winners Liverpool will take on 13-time winners Real Madrid in the 66th edition of the European Cup final.

While Liverpool has dominated throughout the tournament and was a favourite since the beginning, Real Madrid has been down and out on many occasions, but made stunning comebacks to make it to the finals.

FORM GUIDE

LIVERPOOL

In their route to the final, Liverpool looked in control at all times. They were the Group B winners, defeated Inter Milan 2-1 (agg) in the Round of 16, before beating Benfica 6-4 (agg) in the quarters. In the semi-final, they won against Spanish side Villarreal comfortably by 5-2 (agg)

They finished second in the English Premier League, just one points behind champions Manchester City. The club coached by Jurgen Klopp won the FA Cup and the League Cup, two of the most prestigious tournaments in England after the Premier League.

Real Madrid, on their route to the summit clash with Liverpool, were on and off with the form but they never gave up. They were the Group D winners before beating the French Champions PSG 3-2 (agg) in the Round of 16 and registering a come-from-behind victory against defending champions Chelsea in the quarters. They were almost out of the tournament in the semis against Manchester City, but made a stunning comeback to score three late goals.

If Liverpool wins the final, this will be their third title this season, making it the club's best season under Klopp. If Carlo Ancelotti's Real Madrid gets the better of Liverpool, it would be a great achievement considering that the team is in a transition phase and doesn't have the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos in the squad.
