Cristiano Ronaldo's second spell at Manchester United has finally come to an end. Ronaldo is to leave United by mutual agreement, with immediate effect, the club announced on Tuesday (November 22).

Ronaldo, a legend of the English football club, last week in a controversial television interview on TalkTV had said that said he felt "betrayed" by the club and that he had no respect for new manager Erik ten Hag.

"The club thanks him for his immense contribution across two spells at Old Trafford, scoring 145 goals in 346 appearances, and wishes him and his family well for the future," the statement from the club said.

November 16-17, 2022: In a two-part interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo criticises the club management the coach and says that he feels disrespected at the club. He also said that the owners, the Glazer family, do not care about the club.

November 18, 2022: United say they will take "appropriate steps" in response to Ronaldo's comments.

November 21, 2022: Ronaldo in a PC says: "I don't have to worry what others think. I talk when I want to."

November 22, 2022: United announce Ronaldo is to leave the club with "immediate effect".

Glazers to sell Manchester United? The Glazer family, who own the Manchester United, on Tuesday announced they are open to selling the club. The club said it is "exploring strategic alternatives," including new investment or a full sale.

"The process is designed to enhance the club's future growth, with the ultimate goal of positioning the club to capitalize on opportunities both on the pitch and commercially. As part of this process, the board will consider all strategic alternatives, including new investment into the club, a sale, or other transactions involving the company," the club's statement read.
