Qatar World Cup 2022 will kick-off on Sunday, November 20, with the hosts facing Ecuador.
The first World Cup in the Middle East or West Asia has 32 teams in 8 groups and the event that will go on for 29 days will have 64 matches.
FIFA World Cup format:
The 32 teams have been drawn into eight groups of four nations. The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stages. After the group stage, the tournament will move to a round of 16, followed by eight teams in the quarterfinals, four in the semifinals and then the final.
Four matches will be played each day during the group stage, which will run over a 12-day period.
