Popular wrestler and actor John Cena is making his return to the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) on June 27 on Monday Night Raw on his 20th anniversary.
But will Cena Wrestle? On June 26, 2022, Cena might not wrestle in a match because off late he has been out of action. Even if WWE wants Cena to get in a match, that would be probably in a big pay-per-view event.
It can be Cena addressing his fans and then may be, WWE starting his new storyline of a match against a wrestler
The last time Cena stepped in the ring was in 2021 in Summerslam against Roman Reigns. Since then, Cena has been out of the ring and establishing his career in movies.
THE DEBUT OF CENA
The star wrestler made his debut in WWE in 2002 in a match against ace wrestler Kurt Angle, which he lost.
But back then, not many in the locker room would have then looked at Cena and said that the wrestler would become one of the greatest things in the company. A brand that would become the face of the company in the next.
Cena, in his first match squared of against Kurt Angle. Dressed in boxers, Cena was the underdog in the room. He lost the match though but within the two new years, Cena won his first Intercontinental Championship.
Cena was all of a sudden persona of trash talking rapper, would hold mike and then say “The Champ is Here”. In the next few months, he did prove himself.
WHY CENA WAS A SAVIOUR FOR WWE?
By 2005, most of the popular wrestlers like The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Brock Lesnar, Hulk Hogan were almost out of action. The Rock had stepped into Hollywood, Brock Lesnar left the company in 2004, Stone Cold Steve Austin never fought after 2004 while Hulk Hogan was too old to wrestle.
Apart from the likes of Triple H, Shawn Michales and Undertaker, Randy Orton, there were no credible face in WWE. In 2005, Vince Mcmohan, chairman of the company, decided to bet on Cena.
Not only did this gamble work, but Cena went on to become the face of the WWE for the next decade. For Cena, there was no looking back after this.
In his phenomenal career, Cena won record 16 WWE World Championhip titles, five time United States Championship, a four time tag-team champion, a two-time Royal Rumble match winner and one time a Money in the Bank winner.
