Why John Cena teaming up with Kevin Owens for WWE SmackDown is epic

The last episode of WWE SmackDown of 2022 will see veteran wrestler John Cena in a tag-team match with Kevin Owens against WWE Universal champion Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn. The 16-time World Champion last appeared on WWE in June 2022 on his 20th anniversary with the company. However, he didn't wrestle and only did a promo.

But  during the last episode of SmackDown in 2022, Cena is going full throttle in the ring, with a partner, Kevin Owens on his side, whom he had introduced to the WWE universe nearly 8 years back. It is a once in a lifetime kind of match for Kevin Owens.

Why it is so special for Kevin Owens? The match is crucial for Kevin Owens because it has come full circle for him after seven years, right from when he started in 2015 to now in 2022, where he will team up with John Cena, the wrestler whom Owens had grown up watching.

• In 2015, Kevin Owens was an NXT champion and Cena was still the face of the company as Roman Reigns was still struggling to find his foot. Owens got the lifetime opportunity when he was pitched against John Cena in his first appearance against the former WWE champion. Not only was Owens was put over Cena winning his first match at Elimination Champer, his career sky-rocketted right after the match as he got to beat the biggest superstars of the company. 
• Owens understands the emotions attached to this match. His 15-year-old son is a great fan of John Cena. In a chat with TMZ Sports show hosted by Babcock and Mojo, Kevin said the feeling is surreal for him.
• "I started with Cena when I came to WWE, and now he's going to be my partner against Sami. Me and Sami have had so much in history in WWE, let alone our entire careers. To be in that kind of situation now together, is just so surreal. I am just grateful for the chance to experience that stuff," Owens said.
• Owens also said that he and his son have been huge fans of Cena and when he was signing the WWE contract, he had told his son that he would be fighting the wrestler one day. 
• "Anytime John comes back around, it piques his (Owens) interest, and now I get to to team with him. He saw us fight each other. Now he's going to get me team with him. It's little neat thing."

Owens and Sami Zayn: Sami Zayn and Owens have been the best friends in the industry for past 20 years. The two have been together in WWE since they started and now Owens is going to face Zayn with Cena on his side.

• For Zayn, who has recently turned heel teaming up with Roman Reigns, the match is going to be a build up for WrestleMania 39.
• Owens might also face Reigns in the main event at WrestleMania, if the company isn't able to board in The Rock. Be that as it may, the 16-time World Champion will have a good welcome at Tampa, Florida, US. 
• Cena was last time, seen in the ring in 2021 at Money In the Bank pay-per-view when he lost the match against Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship. Now, Cena is up against the same opponent with his former opponent on his side.
• No wonder, WWE creative team wants Cena always to be their back up, and Cena doesn't disappoint them. We'll see if the fight also builds up a possible match for Cena for the grandest stage at WrestleMania 39.
