WrestleMania 39: 3 matches Brock Lesnar could have played instead of one against rookie Omos

WWE universe has expressed its discontent over WWE booking Brock Lesnar against Omos at WrestleMania 39 with many calling it a wrong decision by the company. Photo: Getty

WrestleMania 39 is round the corner and matches of superstars are being locked now. Roman Reigns is to face Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes in the main event. We don't know what plans the company has for Sami Zayn who seems to be on top with the WWE Universe backing him more than Cody Rhodes.

The Rated R Superstar Edge is most expected to square off against Finn Balor. Similarly, Bianca Belair will face Asuka in a WWE Championship match.

As a WWE fan, what baffled me was the booking of Brock Lesnar, arguably the company's biggest wrestler at the moment, against Omos, the Nigerian Giant who is no more than a rookie in the company. Having made his debut in the second half of 2020, Omos is not a big thing in WWE, plus he has lost two consecutive matches against Bobby Lashley and Braun Strowman.

Why would WWE bring Lesnar to fight someone like Omos when they know that he is much below the level of Lesnar. Why would they do that?

Knowing that Lesnar has few matches in his contract with the WWE, why wouldn't the company book him in a match that pulls the crowd. Like a match against John Cena, someone else who has a credibe standing with the fans.

It is clear that Lesnar will win the fight against Omos at WrestleMania 39. That ends the storyline between the two. Who else will Lesnar work with after that?

The fans have expressed their disappointment with Lesnar being booked against Omos.

Here are the 3 contests WWE could have booked for Lesnar instead:

1. Brock Lesnar vs John Cena: Though this wouldn't have been the first time, but Cena vs Lesnar at WrestleMania would have generated tremendous buzz with the fans. Knowing that even Cena is a part-timer and he rarely fights, at WrestleMania, the creative team could have asked Cena to work with Lesnar for one night.

Cena is making a return to RAW next week. The stage was set and Cena could have challenged Lesnar for a one-on-one match. This could have been a revenge match for Cena. He had a nightmare last time in SummerSlam nearly 8 years back against Lesnar, who smashed his spine with nearly eight suplexes in the match. Lesnar had then defeated Cena for the WWE Championship.

2. Brock Lesnar vs Edge: This could have been another exciting duel because the WWE Universe has never seen a Lesnar vs Edge contest on a big stage. It's surprising, but Lesnar in his two-decade career has never faced Edge in a one-one-one match.

Though there have been few fist fights, but never has the company been able to bring in the two legendary wrestlers together. At WrestleMania, the match between the two could have build up for a good match seeing taht both enjoy considerable support from WWE universe.

3. Brock Lesnar vs Bobby Lashley: The Bobby Lashely and Brock Lesnar saga has so far not seen a convincing end as the last match ended up with Lashley winning due to disqualification. The once-in-a-lifetime kind of match between the two could have been an eye-feasting spectacle if the in a Last Man Standing match at WrestleMania.

But, in a strange turn of events, the company ended the storyline between the two just over a month before WrestleMania.

Lashley is famously called as the 'Black Lesnar' by the fans, and they wanted to see him fighting against Brock Lesnar.
