And just like that, it's time to wave 2014 goodbye. It's been a mixed bag for most things, but I'm going to keep it strictly fashionable here. Many surprises, some comebacks and some massive disasters -- the fashion industry was rather busy this year. From red carpet events to parties, our celebrities tried to make the most of every opportunity that came their way and it is now time to look back and analyse what worked and what didn't. The idea behind this list is to talk about the most striking fashion moments of the year - some striking enough to shine and others striking enough to give you nightmares.
Here's a recap of the ten most eye-catching fashion moments of 2014.
The Fabulous Few

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Roberto Cavalli, Cannes Film Festival
She's been attending the festival for over a decade now but it was only this year that Aishwarya Rai finally got it right. Having lost almost all her extra post-baby pounds, she owned her curves and sizzled on the red carpet in this exquisite gold Cavalli number and shut even her harshest critics up. Everything from the fit of the dress to her make-up was bang on.

Kareena Kapoor Khan in Ashish Soni, Mint Luxury Conference
A three-piece suit isn't what you'd associate with a Bollywood actress but Kareena Kapoor clearly meant business here when she donned this Ashish Soni creation. Hair neatly parted in a sleek ponytail, make-up left natural and suede pumps to boot, she looked spectacular. I'd pick this over gaudy gowns and saris any day of the year.

Anushka Sharma in Burberry, Burberry Spring-Summer 2015 Show
Sitting front-row for the brand's fashion show in London, Anushka Sharma, not surprisingly, went head-to-toe Burberry in this beautiful dress that was cinched at the waist along with a pair of stunning booties that contrasted the outfit well. She looked fresh with her make-up, too. Brownie points for keeping the look simple and wearable.

Sonam Kapoor in Anamika Khanna, Cannes Film Festival
India's uncrowned fashion queen proved yet again why she is miles ahead of everyone when it comes to style. Sonam Kapoor, in this Anamika Khanna sari-gown paired with her mom's choker, Ferragamo clutch, and Jimmy Choo sandals, nailed the Indian-Western look most women seem to never get right. She deserves a special mention for her neatly done hair and the shade of the sari-gown. Simply stunning!

Priyanka Chopra in Gauri & Nainika, Toronto International Film Festival
One-sided off shoulder, detailed at the back and monochrome in colour, there's a lot to love in Priyanka Chopra's turn in this Gauri and Nainika gown. Despite being flowy in style, it still hugs her body at all the right places. And that delicious hairdo is the perfect icing on the cake. This is how you ace the gown on the red carpet look.
And Those Who Erred....

Sonakshi Sinha in Tanieya Khanuja, Big Star Entertainment Awards
It breaks my heart to put Sonakshi Sinha here - the girl really upped her fashion game this year starting with a fabulous new haircut. But this disastrous gown cannot be ignored. From bad colours to her over-bronzed make-up, everything has gone wrong for her. The pattern only adds to the trouble. High time you change your stylist girl!

Lisa Haydon in Deme by Gabriella, GQ Awards
There are many ways to show off a toned body but a sheer dress that shows too much isn't the most classy option. Lisa Haydon usually gets it right but this "dress" looked tacky and screamed for attention. Especially because she wore it on a red carpet. The look was reminiscent of Kim Kardashian, which just wasn't expected of an otherwise good dresser like Lisa.

Parineeti Chopra in Notte by Marchesa, Mumbai Film Festival
She's never been a good dresser to begin with, but this look is a new low, even for Parineeti Chopra. Nothing about this look is even remotely flattering; it makes her look bigger than she might otherwise be. Ladies, take note: you don't wear sheer or see-through when you're not in shape for it. As for you Parineeti, fire your stylist pronto.

Vidya Balan in Manish Malhotra, WE Charity Concert for Salaam Bombay Foundation
No worst-dressed list can ever be complete without Vidya Balan and the lady seems hell bent on going even gaudier every year. Why else would she wear this weird tunic and palazzo pants combination in colours that look shabby and don't do anything for her complexion? Not to mention the over accessorising with the bangles.

Shraddha Kapoor in DvF, Haider Trailer Launch
She's always been a safe dresser and this year actually managed to get remarkably better with her clothes. But this look was too bad for Shraddha Kapoor to be spared. Looking like some sort of a netted apron that's cinched at the waist, the dress was too much in one. Lace, print, keyhole, belt… that's clearly a lot, all in one outfit! The colour clearly isn't meant for her either.
