Treehouse to 300-year-old monastery: 5 places Lithuania wants digital nomads to work from

Technology and laptops have ushered in a generation of digital nomads. Digital nomads have the luxury of travelling while working, and not having to compromise on either of the things. They can choose their pick – from the beautiful landscapes of Switzerland to the warm tropical nations in Southeast Asia.

The life of a digital nomad is all about earning and exploring new parts of the world, where boundaries do not exist and where every day is a breathtaking view out of the window.

But after living in one place for a few months or even weeks, the scenes, views, and the ultimate co-working space or a café you might wind up in, may start to seem a bit boring. But if you are in Lithuania or planning to start your digital nomad life there, then the country has come up with a plan to pique the interest of the forever explorers.

1. WORK FROM A TREEHOUSE

Is a city and urban life too boring for you? Head out to this treehouse in the middle of a forest in Southern Lithuania for a work-life balance with nature. The Varena Treehouse, just an hour from the Lithuanian capital Vilnius, is a minimalist living complex that is also situated near the Merkiai River.

You can walk through the woods or take a bath in the open-air bathtub with a ceiling view of the forest cover. The smells and feel of the greenery is enough to soothe you after a stressful day.

And YES, each treehouse comes with a WiFi connection.

2. INDULGE IN THE LOCAL CULTURE

Want to spend your non-work hours doing something productive? Check out this farmstead on the banks of river Merkys, around 70 km from Vilnius. At the nearby Grikucis Homestead, you can learn everything about growing buckwheat, its preparation and cooking.

Pets are allowed and you can also indulge in other activities like fishing or kayaking.

3. LIVE IN A 17TH-CENTURY MONASTERY

If you are looking for calm, then there is nothing better than to live in Monte Pacis, a hotel which is situated inside the Pažaislis Monastery near the city of Kaunas. Pažaislis Monastery is over 300 years old and was opened in 1664. You can immerse yourself into the heritage of Lithuania nestled in the Baroque-style architecture. Imagine the Three Musketeers or The Beauty and the Beast film settings, that’s the kind of place you will be living in.

You can either opt for the hotel's baroque-style rooms or stay at the monastery’s guest house.

4. ULTRA URBAN

If you are not looking for an urban detox and want something really modern, then perhaps the Lighthouse Hub, a co-working space, in Klaipėda may be up to your taste.

5. TECH SPA

If a co-working space is too bland for your taste, then how about a co-living and co-working space? At Tech Spa in Druskininkai, you can live on the premises, work on the premises, eat, lounge and party on the premises. Here you can meet like-minded people, collaborate with them, inspire and motivate each other and discover what a healthy work-life balance is.

Moreover, you can take group tours like hiking, biking, etc, for some exercise.
