A picture of the Alaknanda river is going viral on social media and the internet cannot get over it. The photo was first shared by a Twitter account with the name Traveling Bharat. It was later re-shared by multiple users. The photo has also been re-shared by Anand Mahindra.

Alaknanda is a Himalayan river in Uttarakhand, India. It is one of the two head streams of the river Ganga. It is also a perfect getaway that you would not want to miss.

The Alaknanda river is surrounded by two mountain ranges of Nar and Narayan and the Neelkanth peak. Badrinath is also located very close to the bank of the Alaknanda river. You can also try river rafting here.

It then meets Bhagirathi river in Devprayag, which is a mesmerising location.

How to reach the Alaknanda river?

You need to first reach the nearest railway station to it, which is Rishikesh or an airport that is Jolly Grant Airport near Dehradun.

From there, you have to travel via road to reach the nearest bank of the river. You can also start your tour from Haridwar to Devprayag.
