It’s that time of the year again. The TIME Person of the Year 2022 has just been announced and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is the one this year. Zelenskyy was chosen for his "success as a wartime leader". The citation adds, "Zelenskyy's success has relied on the fact that courage is contagious. It spread through Ukraine’s political leadership in the first days of the invasion, as everyone realized the President had stuck around.

Dating back nearly a century, the TIME Person of the Year annual magazine issue features a person, a group, an idea, or an object that "for better or for worse ... has done the most to influence the events of the year".
Following the previous year’s winners - Elon Musk (2021), US President Joe Biden & Vice-President Kamala Harris (2020), and Greta Thunberg (2019) - here’s this year’s list of shortlisted nominees:
The TIME Icon of the Year 2022 title went to Everything Everywhere All At Once lead star Michelle Yeoh, and Athlete of the Year 2022 was for New York Yankees baseball player Aaron Judge and Entertainer of the Year 2022 went to K-Pop girl band Blackpink.
